Keighley Parliamentary Constituency is made up of six wards – Keighley East, Keighley West, Keighley Central, Craven (including Addingham, Silsden and Steeton), Worth Valley (Including Cross Roads, Haworth, Oakworth and Oxenhope) and Ilkley (Including Ben Rhydding). Both, before and after the Ilkley Ward was added to Keighley in 1983, the seat has traditionally produced close election results. The winning candidates in Keighley have had majorities of less than 1000, 5 times over the last 60 years.

Keighley Constituency has a rich heritage and a variety of tourist attractions. These include Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, Cliffe Castle, East Riddlesden Hall, Ilkley Moor and the Bronte Parsonage Museum.

Keighley still has a strong base for manufacturing accounting for 20% of jobs in the town. Also with employment going up in this sector Keighley’s culture of manufacturing looks to continue to prosper.

The constituency has close connections to Bradford and Leeds with direct trains to the cities running from Keighley and Ilkley.

The constituency has also appeared in a number of feature films and television dramas. BBCs Peaky Blinders, The Railway Children, The Calendar Girls, A Private Function and God’s Own Country, to name a few.

Ilkley, the second largest community in the constituency, is a spa town in Wharfedale overlooked by the famous Ilkley Moor. Due to its rich heritage and surrounding countryside it attracts many tourists every year.

If there is one thing that unites this diverse constituency, it is Airedale Hospital. It has been caring for those living in every corner of the constituency since it opened in 1970.
