From October 2025, tougher fines will apply:
High level (hazardous/chemical waste) – up to £1,000
Medium level (e.g. car boot load) – £400
Low level (single item) – £150
Littering – £150
Householder duty of care (when rogue waste carrier are used who then fly-tip your rubbish) – £400
Discounts available on each tier for early payment.
Supportive measures to help everyone dispose of waste properly:
Residents can take up to 2 x 50L bags of DIY waste per week to HWRCs
Weighbridge minimum charge reduced from 200–400kg ➝ 100kg (better for small vans)
CCTV in fly-tipping hotspots = fines & prosecutions already happening
£87k Gov funding for roadside cameras to catch littering from vehicles
