We join the whole community in sharing your anger and frustration about the devastating fire at Dalton Mills. We want to thank the emergency services for their hard work and diligence, particularly in saving the bulk of the Keighley Bus Museum Trust Ltd and the treasures inside it.
The Crown Estate owns Dalton Mills and needs to answer questions about its security. The council, police and fire service have – without prejudice – tried to secure the site on several occasions but the owner must now step up.
There is a new owner who has been waiting in the wings and is still desperate to take on Dalton Mills and restore it. We call upon all parties involved to get it given over asap so the new owner can secure the site properly as a matter of urgency. If this is arson, it’s vital that people in the community who know who carried out this awful crime come forward, so the perpetrators can be brought to justice.
The other saving graces of these awful events are that no one has been injured and the peregrines have returned already.
