The restoration of the Skipton-Colne Railway is desperately needed to unlock economic potential here and across the Pennines. Cllr Firth and the district’s portfolio holder for transport Councillor Alex Ross Shaw spent a day last week with The Skipton East Lancashire Rail Action Partnership (SELRAP) to discuss and see how the 12-mile line would give direct access from Keighley and Steeton and Silsden across the Pennines, unlocking land and jobs as well as opportunities for freight.
Cllr Firth spoke about SELRAP and this project’s potential in the council chamber recently and she’ll continue to support the group and its partners to make their case regionally and nationally.
